Material Handling Robots for Automation in Construction Site
In this project, automation system for the curtain wall installation is studied. Conventional task of curtain wall installation conducted by human worker is laborious one performed inside of the building while handling the heavy and large material. Curtain wall has an advantage to be handled by robot system because this material is produced uniformly in the factory and delivered to the construction site as a package. That is why we propose the curtain wall installation robot. Several similar equipments has been developed by construction companies in a central role. They have, however, limitation of low capability of handling the only light glass or disable to move the system while installation task. Most of all, these systems are unified system, it is difficult to transport and mass production. This project proposes the newly designed curtain wall installation robot and performed its feasibility test in a construction site. Finally meaningful results are acquired, and especially several kinds of advantages and problems of this system are analyzed. Moreover, concepts for advanced automation system are extracted and developed continuously. Other joined projects of similar theme are listed below.
